It’s been a sad week in the US and especially in my home town of Dallas, TX.   And we will be facing another tough one this week as well as Mars continues to retrace the path it’s been on for the last two months back through Scorpio to Sagittarius.

I’m just a fortune-teller, not a psychologist or anyone with a fancy degree or authority.  However, after doing thousands of readings over the years, what I have noticed is this:  most  people just  want someone to understand them and accept where they are and their point of view.  This isn’t necessarily having to agree with them, but simply being willing to understand where they are and how they feel.

My clients’ card readings often reveal information that can help them through a personal situation and give them hope.  Many times it is something that the person is keeping to themselves and feel that they can’t talk about.  The relief that someone sees them or gets where they are usually will bring tears to the eyes of these clients when this information comes out in a reading and is acknowledged.  Their pain binds them and their fear blinds them and while removing those is the not the full solution, shining a light on the issue can be a step to moving forward.

Now – on to the Cards of Fortune prediction card for this week:  Eight of Spades or Swords.

This quote from the book Life of Pi by Yann Martel sums it up:

“I must say a word about fear. It is life’s only true opponent. Only fear can defeat life. It is a clever, treacherous adversary, how well I know. It has no decency, respects no law or convention, shows no mercy. It goes for your weakest spot, which it finds with unnerving ease. It begins in your mind, always … so you must fight hard to express it. You must fight hard to shine the light of words upon it. Because if you don’t, if your fear becomes a wordless darkness that you avoid, perhaps even manage to forget, you open yourself to further attacks of fear because you never truly fought the opponent who defeated you.” 

Spades and Swords both have sharp points or endings.   Swords slash through the air when swung and can cut to the quick, draw blood and create deadly results with minimal effort.  Our thoughts and words can be swift and harmful weapons as well.   We can also be hesitant to reveal those thoughts and words for fear of having to defend them.  Some of us are quick to react using our thoughts and words with passion and emotion.  Some of us hold them in and wait for the precise time to get the best effect.

The 8 of Swords /Spades =Fear.  Fear of the unknown or not being able to see or imagine what could happen next or what to do.  That kind of fear can keep us paralyzed, stuck and hopeless.  The Rider Wait deck 8 of Swords card shows the image of a person alone, blindfolded and bound while surrounded by swords all stuck in the ground.    No one is actually attacking or pointing a weapon at them.

The swords in the ground seem to be left by an outside source which might have been recent or from a a past battle.  Who put them there?  We really don’t know.  It doesn’t matter.  The damage has been done.  The person is alone with their fear or thoughts.  They can’t see that no one is threatening them now.    But their own thoughts and whatever they are imaging are keeping them in the state of fear.  Pools of water are around them.  Emotions have been shed.

How can the person unbind themselves and remove the blindfold? They seem helpless.   But the person isn’t gagged.  Nothing covers their mouth or their ears.  They could listen for anyone that might be close or even call for help.  And help is needed to remove the binds and the blindfolds.

Perhaps in our own life there are situations and things that we don’t understand and feel helpless to move forward through.  Who can we ask for help or who can help us?  Now is a time to listen and be heard.
